D'awwwww

Make no mistake - I'm going to write about the things I talked about in my introduction post. But this is just too adorable for me to ignore. This is a letter my little sisters wrote for me and my brother.

Here's what it says:

Now Open!
Amanda & Jane's Salon
Men & Women

Dear customer,

Please come to our Salon. We do many hair does. For example we have a classy dress and hair doe. God bless you!

Signed by
Amanda & Jane

Amanda and Jane are their self-given nicknames. I couldn't have asked for more adorable little sisters. Right after I told them I read the letter, the younger one offered me a haircut. I didn't get one, though, because I can't easily trust a 7-year-old kid who can't even style her own hair to not mess up on my hair. Still, I appreciated her offer.

Note: I have no fucking clue why the text is showing up like this.

Introduction post

As the name may suggest, this blog is a new version of my Dreamwidth journal, mellowness. For some reason, I felt like starting a new blog here. It will be different from my previous journal, but I'm not entirely sure as to what the differences will be. In any case, I don't plan on abandoning my Dreamwidth account anytime soon, so there's no need to worry if you're a fan of Dreamwidth.

Just like my previous journal, mellowness is a blog about the rants, ventings and musings of an anarcha-feminist trans* girl. I write about personal matters very often - more than anything else - and sometimes I write about social justice, social science, or philosophy. If what I've described doesn't sound like your cup of tea, I suggest you turn around because that's pretty much all I write about. If not, then welcome.

Here are some other things I want to talk about in this post.

Commenting Guidelines

Before deciding to comment on an entry here, please bear in mind that I'm okay with dissenters. The people I'm not okay with are bigoted assholes who aren't here in good faith. The bigotry I'm not okay with includes but is not limited to bigotry targeting the following traits: gender identity, sexual orientation, race, disability, body shape, and socioeconomic status.

Most of the time, if I find you not following these guidelines, I'll simply ask you to be a nicer commentator. If I find you not only not following these guidelines but also persistently and shamelessly mean-spirited and bigoted, I will revoke your commenting privileges until or unless you apologize and show that you're willing to be more considerate of others. And if you are an asshole from the start, with no signs of ever caring about being a decent person, I'll consider banning you.

That said, you are free to hurl insults at and criticize me or anything/anyone else if such criticisms and insults are not bigoted.

Bottom line: Don't be a bigoted asshole coming here in bad faith. Surely it's not that hard.

Content Notes

Some readers may stumble upon material they may find upsetting somehow. "Upsetting" could either mean "triggering" or "something you really, really don't feel like reading right now." To accommodate such readers, I will put up content notes, which briefly inform readers of material they may find upsetting. It will be nice if the commentators do so as well. You can write a content note in the following way:

[CN: *insert list of stuff*]

And then put it before the material in question. Or you can do it your own way - just try to make it aptly descriptive and easy to understand. Perhaps using content notes sounds silly to you, but I assure you that many people appreciate content notes. Especially, as I have noticed, people with psychological triggers (such as the vast majority of abuse and assault survivors).

Social Justice 101 Stuff

If you have some commonly-asked, easy question like "What's rape culture?", I'll be glad to send you resources that you can check out to help find your answers. But I will not talk about it extensively in the comments. I don't want to stifle discussion, but discussion concerning 101 stuff is very tiresome and it not only wastes my time, but also wastes yours. We can talk about it in the comments, but it's just a headache for me.

So that's it for this post. Those are pretty much the only guidelines here. See you later!
